This has been a long Christmas break for me - winter virus followed by holiday - and I am finding it difficult to get into the swing of the New Year and work commitments. It would be easy to be gloomy in this environment of economic downturn but I think I should be cheerful! Pictures like this help, I think!
If we think we are shiny happy people, then perhaps we can be
I think that New Year’s resolutions are for ‘list’ people, but the rest of us might have vague but inspiring general aspirations.
I should definitely be doing the things I enjoy and am good at- knitting, gardening and cooking. On the work side, I shouldn’t neglect writing, in fact it’s a priority. I also want to concentrate on where I can make a difference - a great goal for 2009.
In general, I’d like to try to enjoy the people I am with - family, friends, colleagues and students - then maybe they’ll enjoy being with me.

I hope ‘the people you are with’ includes those of us with whom you exist virtually. I certainly enjoy your company. I wish you a healthy, productive, and cheerful 2009!

You always make a difference
I am a list person but I simplified mine to “drink less and do more”
